14 CFR 107.5 and 3.403

Falsification, reproduction and alteration

Section 107.5 is marked [Reserved], so the FAA text on false statements and altered documents is in 14 CFR 3.403. Here is the rule, the exam traps and practice questions, with the FAA source under each answer.

Part 107, explained · Last reviewed October 25, 2026 against the eCFR and faa.gov. UAV Campus is not affiliated with the FAA.

What does the FAA rule on falsification, reproduction and alteration say?

107.5 is marked [Reserved] in the eCFR, so Part 107 has no text there. The rule against fraudulent or intentionally false statements, and against altering documents for fraud, appears in 14 CFR 3.403. Breaking it is a basis for denying, suspending or revoking a certificate, or for a civil penalty.

Exam traps

  • Section 107.5 is [Reserved] in the eCFR, so there is no Part 107 text under that number.
  • Section 3.403(a) covers fraudulent or intentionally false statements in application documents and in records kept or used to show compliance.
  • Section 3.403(b) covers production, reproduction or alteration of such documents for a fraudulent purpose.
  • Section 3.403(c) covers knowingly omitting a material fact, and (d) makes any of these acts a basis for a civil penalty or action against a certificate.

Practice question 1

Falsifying records that are required to show compliance with any requirement of Part 107 can lead to

Show the answer
Answer: A. Denial of application for Remote Pilot, waivers, or suspension/revocation, or a civil penalty.

Falsification rules for all FAA certificates, including Part 107, now live in one place: 14 CFR 3.403 (moved there from 107.5, effective November 3, 2025). A fraudulent or intentionally false statement, a fraudulent reproduction or alteration, or a knowing omission in any record kept to show compliance is a basis for denying, suspending, or revoking a certificate, rating, waiver or similar, or for a civil penalty (3.403(d)). Jail time and a checkride are not the sanctions the rule lists.
