ACS Area of Operation IV

Part 107 loading and performance

How weight, balance and the air itself change what a drone can do, with the aircraft basics from the FAA's Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge behind each one.

Part 107, explained · Last reviewed October 25, 2026 against the FAA Airman Certification Standards. UAV Campus is not affiliated with the FAA.

What does the Part 107 test ask about loading and performance?

Loading and performance is the smallest area of the 60-question test, at 7 to 11 percent. The FAA's Airman Certification Standards ask about the effects of loading changes; balance, stability and center of gravity; and how to use performance data to work out the effect on a small drone's performance.
